Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate School Counsellor to join our team. The ideal candidate will provide guidance and support to students, fostering their academic success, emotional well-being, and social development. You will work collaboratively with staff, parents, and external partners to create a positive and supportive school culture.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide individual and group counselling to students to address academic, social, and emotional challenges.

• Develop and implement programmes to support student well-being, mainly coordinating and developing our mentor programme further.

• Collaborate with teachers and mentors to create strategies that promote student success and well-being.

• Assist students in developing effective coping mechanisms, study habits, and interpersonal skills.

• Act as a liaison between the school, parents, and external professionals.

• Conduct assessments and evaluations to identify students' needs and recommend appropriate interventions or services. Additionally, interpret external assessments.

• Translate information regarding support students into ILPs.

• Provide crisis intervention and support as needed.

• Maintain accurate and confidential records in accordance with ethical and legal guidelines. 

Qualifications

• Education: A master’s degree in School Counselling, Psychology, Pedagogy, Social Work, or a related field.

• Certification: Completed BAPD.  

• Experience: Previous experience in school counselling or working with children and adolescents in an educational setting is preferred.

• Strong knowledge of child and adolescent development, learning strategies, and mental health issues.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with diverse groups.

• Ability to handle sensitive situations with empathy and professionalism.

• Proficiency in both Dutch and English is required.
